Additional Information
Visit local vineyards of the Malepere, Corbieres and Minervois Regions or taste the delicious traditional regional dishes.
As seen on TV, this region is a food and wine haven. Enjoy foie gras, confit de canard, cassoulet …………
We are not far from the Canal du Midi where Rick Stein’s French Odessy went along, through Castelnaudary and Carcassonne. John Burton Race and French Leave was filmed not far from here. Follow in Kevin Costner’s footsteps in La Cité, Carcassonne where « Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves » was filmed.
It is approximately 15 minutes drive to the medieval town of Mirepoix where there are most amenities including tennis, cinema and swimming pool. The towns of Castelnaudary, Villefrance-de-Lauragais and Mazères are about 20-30 minutes drive and each has a motorway intersection giving easy access to Toulouse, Carcassonne or the coast.
Swimming, sailing, windsurfing and fishing can be enjoyed on the large reservoirs of Montbel or La Ganguise or at the Med. Or perhaps you prefer riding, cycling or walking.
There is a tennis club, of which we are members, in Belpech, 5 minutes drive.
It is an ideal touring base for traditional historical attractions, the Mediterranean and Andorra (where, in winter skiing can be enjoyed). Take a look at the local colourful markets.
Or you may wish to relax in the lovely grounds enjoying the sun and some local wine or have a dip in the pool with tranquil surroundings and beautiful panoramic views.
Plaigne is on the border of Aude as you enter Ariège, one of the most unspoilt departments of France as well as being the least populated. These two sites are very useful for those who wish to explore:

We are always available to provide you with guides and information if you wish to do some sightseeing.
Parents, if you want some time to yourselves, we offer a babysitting and dog sitting service.
